Accountabilities
Including, but not limited to:
Co-ordinate and consolidate shipments from suppliers in the most cost-effective manner
Negotiate freight rates and sailing and flight schedules etc. to ensure timeous clearance and
delivery
Track shipments with clearing agents with regards to timelines, custom releases or detentions etc.
Assist sales team with export quotations via air, sea and road
Negotiate rates with various export agents, shipping lines and road transporters for all forms of
export: air, sea and over border
Negotiate transport and delivery of shipments via the various modes of transport to our premises at
the best rate to accommodate our specific schedules and requirements i.e. from ports, airports etc.
Track and trace departure and arrival of shipment
Keep up to date with tariff consulting, custom regulations, etc.
SABS rules, regulations, standard of requirements, etc.
Effective Administration of shipments documentation i.e. bill of ladings, commercial invoices,
packing lists, certificate of origin, custom documents etc.
Follow up with suppliers for invoices, packing list and related documents
Shipping files to adhere to auditors’ requirements at all times
Assist accounts with relevant documents and signatures for payment of foreign and local invoices
Speak, dress and act in a professional manner at all times thus enhancing upliftment and
promoting the Company brand
Ensure professional timekeeping
End to end operational facilitation of all import and export duties (such as opening of files, gathering
cargo and origin information, ensure all documentation and invoices are in place and in line with
company procedures and more).
Facilitate a reactive process in terms of turnaround time and client feedback.
Develop lasting and strong relationships with all service providers.
In-depth knowledge of Incoterms and customs requirements
Maintains regular telephonic contact with a defined portfolio of clients to update records, maintain relationships and achieve growth of service offerings.
Captures and maintains accurate client information on the system.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Matric or equivalent Senior Certificate
Shipping diploma or equivalent would be highly advantageous
Minimum 3-5 years’ experience within the air, road and sea shipments on Capital and/or Agricultural equipment
Supervisory Experience advantageous
Incoterms
CRM system experience
Letters of Credit advantageous
Ability to work under pressure
Must be a team player
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Organized

Proactive
