Job Purpose
The ability to frame the various types of Bill of Entries particularly as regards Automotive clearances (Air /Sea/Road), Import & Export
Qualifications
To have the necessary customs affairs Courses or equivalent
To have a valid, undendorsed Code 8 drivers Licence
Matriculation certificate essential
Industry related training advantageous
Experience
At least 5 years’ experience in customs technical environment
Have working knowledge of the Manual for the Completion and Presentation of Declarations
Some experience of basic imports/exports advantageous
Well develop automotive experience essential
Good knowledge as regards systems integration as effects BOE processing
Competence Knowledge
Have a basic understanding of Customs Accreditation, subsequent risks and APDP
Have a good working knowledge of the information manual for the completion and Presentation of Bills of Entry Export
Have a good working knowledge of the Manual for the Completion and Presentation of Declarations
Have knowledge of the documents required for customs clearance and Incoterms 2010
Skills
Well-developed computer skills (MS office suite and Core freight)
Highly developed numerical skills required.
The ability to data capture, quickly and accurately
The ability to communicate on all levels
To have an enquiring mind, and the inclination to learn new functions
Ability to work independently with a high level of tolerance and for stress meet deadlines.
Systematic, logical and analytical approach to problem solving
Key Responsibilities of this Role:-
Ability to tariff commodities correctly as per HTS
The ability to, frame Vouchers of Correction
The ability to, frame all Seafreight Entries
To have a thorough understanding of the various incoterms and how they impact customs valuation
To ensure work is prioritised and necessary deadlines met
The ability to manage acquittals
The ability to manage and monitor EDI messaging to and from Customs for all entries
The ability to frame and submit Cargo Due Orders
Preparing EWP applications and booking inspections with customs
To ensure strict adherence to the procedures
To continuously ensure remains updated as regards the changes iro customs modernisations
Filing and updating all shipment records
Ad-hoc assignments as requested by management
Maintain customs tariff library on the system
Main activities of this role:
To compile all types of customs Bill of Entries and submit to SARS with no penalties
To assist with all refunds as required
To assist with taking urgent documents to Customs where required
To assist he learn wherever required
Financial responsibility (if applicable):
Ensure shipments are cleared correctly with no errors
Ensure all disbursements and invoices are in shipping files
Performance Indicators:
No errors on SAD500 to avoid penalties and writes-offs
Pre-clear in full, no errors
Cargo dues paid on time to avoid penalties
Timeous monitoring of customs statuses to keep in house and client advised on progress of clearance.
