Applicants must have the following requirements:
Minimum 2 years’ experience in the building industry
Valid driver’s license
Matric Certificate
Be able to read Architectural and Measurement Drawings
Be able to perform under pressure and should have good time management skills
Be willing to work overtime when required
Be hands-on and have problem solving skills
DUTIES
To obtain and verify all relevant information required by the Project and Design office regarding the project.
Obtain all relevant information and requirements regarding the project from Project Office.
Make contact with the Site Foreman and arrange to meet on site.
When you arrive on site check for potential problems, truck and crane access, crane position for installation, building material in the way, make a note and inform Project Office.
Explain to new clients the procedure and requirements for a successful measurement and installation visit.
Compare the measurement drawings to the building to be slabbed for any discrepancies. Notify Engineer as soon as possible if there are discrepancies.
Check and note on dimension drawing where you can the number of lintels and brick courses above all openings.
Be careful when taking dimensions between walls that have been plastered.
Measure and note all opening sizes on building.
Try to obtain all dimensions that are required by the drawing office.
If the building is not complete explain to the Site Foreman the implications, complication and extra costs that could arise from not having complete measurement drawings.
If the Site Foreman insists on you taking measurements on incomplete buildings, insist that he assist with the measurements and signs acceptance thereof.
Discuss the following issues with the Site Foreman
Walkways- slab layout and slab lines
Stairwells- slab line
Service ducts
Building levels in regards to balconies, walkways and down stand beams
Cut outs around service ducts, pillars and down pipes
Cantilevers
Are there openings for braai areas, sky lights or other openings in the slab layout
Will he be requiring any core drilling as this is an extra cost
Before you leave the site ensure that you have
All required measurements
Done a visual inspection of the site terrain
Site Foreman is satisfied with the measurements you have taken
Site Foreman understands the installation and grouting procedure
On your return to Company hand in your measurements to the drawing office
If you have experienced problems or complication on site discuss with Engineer and submit a written report to the Project Office explaining the problems or complications
Recommend or provide solutions to potential problems you have seen on site
Duties assigned to the measurer during Work Instruction Process as detailed and required in our Procedure.
Assist in investigating work instruction related problems.
