Minimum Requirements
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Grade 12/N3 (a must);
Fitting , Fitting & Turning ,
Toolmaker Trade (either one a must);
EXPERIENCE:
5-10 years practical working experience as a machinist, miller and turner;
Experience in manufacturing industry (a must);
Must be able to work on a manual lathe machine, milling and turning pump shaft, pneumatic components, castings, machine fine tolerances and bearing sizes.
Duties & Responsibilities
Primary purpose of the role • Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments; and
To machine metal components and assembling them to construct components.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities • Must be fluent in English (read and write);
Have a good eyesight and a hand-to-eye coordination;
Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings;
Must be able to set up own machines and tooling;
Must be able to use all types of common measuring equipment;
Must be able to grind and alter own tools;
Must be able to turn to verifying tolerances up to 6 meters;
Must be able to do own continuous improvements;
Responsible for own Quality of work;
Must be able to maintain first line preventative maintenance;
Must be able to stick to scheduled times;
Must be able to work under little or no supervision;
Ability to plan his / her activities and to meet project deadlines;
Ability to work in a team but also to work independently;
Good problem solving skills;
Sense of urgency – initiate, complete and follow through tasks;
Must have good interpersonal skills and be a good communicator;
Ability to stay calm under stressful situations;
Must be passionate about his/ her field of expertise;
Ability to interact with people at all levels within the company;
Must be accurate and have the attention to detail;
Have good planning and organising skills;
Must be able to work shifts..
