Job Purpose:

  • The Buyer represents the company in the acquisition of goods and services required to assure on-time deliveries and customer satisfaction.
  • The primary objective is to identify and acquire the products and services that must be obtained externally.
  • In accomplishing this, the Buyer will evaluate and determine the best supplier, value and delivery for those products and services.


Responsibilities Include

  • Read, understand and breakdown material requirements from engineering drawings.
  • Handle the Request for Quotations (RFQ) processes as per the Procurement procedure.
  • Act as an interface between suppliers and other relevant departments and communicate any supply problems which may impact on business operations.
  • Monitor and advise on any issues which may present risk or opportunity to the Company.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor strategies and market suppliers.
  • Provide analysis on costs, new and existing and review cost reduction activities.
  • Work closely with others in the procurement function and review opportunities for continuous improvements.
  • Ensure that goods and services purchased are at the best prices and condition.
  • Ensure that goods and services purchased are as per Purchase Requisitions.
  • Make sure that all Purchase Orders are processed timeously within the Company ERP System
  • Ensure that all orders are approved by authorised signatories before processing following the Delegation of Authority limit.
  • Email the POs to the selected supplier copying the person who requested the order.
  • Communicate any delay or potential delay on orders to the relevant stakeholders.
  • File all documents/communication related to the POs.
  • Distribute documentation/information to the relevant departments.
  • Monitor orders to ensure materials/services and hires are supplied within contractual timescales.
  • Work closely with the supplier to resolve any issues that negatively affect delivery timescales
  • Ensure all documentation is kept up to date.
  • Ensure the vendor is aware of any special requirements.
  • Monitor progress of orders and expediting outstanding deliveries
  • Manage supplier corrective action process, liaising with the supplier and internal departments to ensure nonconformities are closed out effectively
  • Maintain a professional relationship with suppliers.
  • Operate with the highest standards of integrity.
  • Follow all the Company’s policies and procedures.
  • Perform any other duties required by your designated manager

Required Education & Experience:

  • Matric with relevant degree / diploma
  • Minimal 5 years’ experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Engineering background would be advantageous
  • Working knowledge of SAGE Evolution
  • Strong computer skills to include MS Office
  • Technical Qualification in N OR T OR BTEC
