The purpose of the job is to grow the reassurance business profitably by nurturing and developing existing and new markets and client relationships, expanding company footprint and market penetration. There is a specific focus of this role on markets in the SSA strategy being: Main focus: Botswana, Mauritius, Namibia, Ghana, Kenya and DRC Supportive function in: Togo, Ethiopia, Uganda, Tanzania, Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia, Angola, Lesotho, Swaziland. This position bears responsibility for: Specifically contribute to the SSA strategy of the company Strive to acquire profitable reassurance business which adds to the bottom line of company, value of new business and embedded value Assist in developing and driving the company Client strategy, which includes the marketing and branding strategy, and the product and innovation strategy. Manage clients pro-actively, taking responsibility for deliveries including tenders/quotes, new product development, research, and general communication Co-ordinate tender projects, pulling in functional experts where required Responsible for client data collection and validation Research various areas including: (re) insurance market and industry trends Client strategy and opportunities Competitor strategy Further functions will include: Building collaborative and sustainable client relationships Marketing the good name of company to external parties Ensuring current accounts with clients remain profitable Commercial decision–making (reviews client pricing provided) Priority setting – within Life Business Development, Life Product & Pricing and Basis Development (Corporate Actuarial) Co-ordinating client functions Efficient treaty management and documentation processes Your profile Qualified Actuary (FIA / FFA / FASSA) [strong preference] Risk Experience (at least 5 years) Marketing exposure and experience Strong interpersonal, networking and negotiation skills Excellent verbal, communication and presentation skills Product development and pricing experience in life insurance Strategic thinker with sound foresight Able to work under pressure and on multiple tasks Ability to work independently and within a team; being able to collaborate effectively across teams and workstreams Self-starter
