JOB PURPOSE
- Design, improves, sets and manages rubber moulds.
JOB FUNCTION
- Mould Designs
- Generate mould concepts/designs, communicate and transfer mould concepts to the Drawing Office/Projects Team for detailing
- Review and approve mould detailed drawings, source and procure moulds following the commercial process
- Mould Scheduling
- Create a detailed Mould Scheduling Plan on a weekly and monthly basis
- Interface with Production to ensure moulds are planned and scheduled as per production plan
- Confirm that mould are available on time as per the Mould Scheduling Plan and continually reduce down time due to mould

- Mould Setting
- Set moulds on time as per the Mould Scheduling Plan, design / specify inserts required to satisfy the Mould Scheduling Plan
- Mould Repair
- Implement a system to evaluate and document the condition of all moulds and tooling as required
- Confirm moulds are serviceable either by in-house repair work or external contracting as required
- Continues Mould Improvement
- Continually develop mould tooling to reduce cost and improve production efficiency
- Mould Management
- Identify, mark, review, condition and store moulds for all new and unmarked moulds
- Keep up to date mould records that includes mould number, description, condition and location
- Where required, ensure that moulds and tooling are stored in protective containers
- Safety & Housekeeping
- Follow safety protocols to ensure that moulds and tooling is safe to use within working environment and housekeeping as per company standards
- Managed Department
- Manpower capabilities for the department are planned, selected and developed
- Company HR and Disciplinary policy is adhered to and technical direction is provided according to staff needs
QUALIFICATION & REQUIREMENTS
- Trade Certificate (Boiler Maker or Fitter)
- At least 5 years’ experience in a rubber production environment
- Proficient with design and manufacturing of moulds used for pressing and curing rubber products
- Expert level on fabricating and modifying moulds for pressing and curing rubber products
- Follows up, quality orientated, problem solver, collaborative, innovative, good judgement, communication, planning and organising skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
