JOB PURPOSE: The prime purpose of the Planner is to create, maintain and verify the master schedule, in response to product demand forecasts, driving all purchasing and manufacturing activity, to ensure line items are shipped complete and on time
MAIN DUTIES:
The key responsibilities for this position are; • Using data from Sales Orders, Sales Forecast, Manufacturing, new product introduction and Supply Chain deliver a valid, feasible and stable schedule that supports our customer order book, taking into consideration material availability and capacity. • Creating ,analysing and reviewing the monthly capacity plan incorporating planned weekly ship days • Reporting actuals versus forecast and plan numbers; reporting orders and backlog; • Ensure delivery of the schedule, while delivering agility when/where required. • Interact frequently with Customer Services, Manufacturing, Material Control and Purchasing to balance supply and demand to the shipping department • Align demand and supply through initial rough cut capacity planning to satisfy long term plans • Work with Material Control to proactively identify supply constraints that will prevent effective production occurring and correct the problem in conjunction with Purchasing and Manufacturing. • Ensure recovery plans are available for all late items in line with capacity and forecasts • Determine the production of short lead time orders • Take the lead in meetings to keep up to date on issues relating to Sales Orders, Sales Forecast, Manufacturing, new product introduction and other Supply Chain issues. • Generate works orders for the manufacture of products through interpretation of MRP. • Publish key metrics including actual vs. scheduled production and Master Schedule stability including appropriate analyses with corrective actions. • Use the system to solve critical material shortage problems so actions can be captured in the records for the next processing through formal MRP rules. • Reconcile errors or inconsistencies in the data and try to eliminate root causes of these errors. Find key problem areas requiring action now to prevent future crises. • Ensure JD Edwards MRP system parameters are maintained to the requirements of the business. • You will be required to carry out internal audits to ensure compliance with existing Environmental, Health and Safety and TS Standards/Legislation
Project Work:
Working with the Value Stream teams, deliver a process for full utilisation of exception messages from our ERP system.
Working with counterpart, develop a Master Scheduling business process, establish planning cycle and time horizons.
Prepare run out analyses for discontinued items and coordinated exit strategy with planners and purchasing.
Update our ERP system with a 12 month schedule for long lead time component forecasting.
Analyze and update system planning factors for the part numbers - such as batch sizes, lead times, scrap factors and costs.
Indicate where further system enhancements (outputs, diagnostics, etc) would make the planner's job easier.
Assist in the development of Best Practices within the Department.
Work with Value Stream team to implement material flow and level scheduling

Key Accountabilities:
Develop daily or weekly production schedules to ensure that production deadlines are met.
Determine material, equipment, and labor requirements, prepare status and performance reports, and resolve production issues.
Specific focus on the materials and goods required in the production phase, ensuring the working space is properly maintained in order to have optimal performance.
Plan for production using MRP.
Communicate and negotiate with the customer if delay occurred.
Monitoring production cycle and the lead time to ensure goods complete based on the agreed date.
To monitor the stock inventory and ensure the accuracy of the stock
PLANNING AND ORGANISATION:
Develop production plans and timelines
Determine manpower, equipment and raw materials needed to cover production demand
Determine production requirements based on plant capacity, product requirements and plans according to sales specifications and requirements
Ensuring compliance with both company, legislative, and customer standards
