Position Overview:

Our client is seeking a talented Industrial Designer / Draughtsman to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for design, a strong technical background, and the ability to translate concepts into detailed drawings and specifications for shopfitting, cabinet making, and furniture projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to understand project requirements and objectives.
  • Develop conceptual designs and sketches based on client briefs and feedback.
  • Create detailed technical drawings, including plans, elevations, sections, and assembly diagrams using CAD software
  • Ensure designs comply with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Select appropriate materials, finishes, and hardware for each project, considering aesthetic, functional, and budgetary requirements.
  • Work closely with production teams to communicate design intent and resolve any technical issues that arise during fabrication and installation.
  • Continuously research industry trends, materials, and manufacturing techniques to enhance design capabilities and stay competitive in the market.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred
  • Min. 5 years proven experience as an Industrial Designer, Draughtsman, or similar role in the shopfitting, cabinet making, or furniture making industry.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar would be beneficial. 
  • Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and construction techniques relevant to shopfitting, cabinet making, and furniture production.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with clients, colleagues, and vendors.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality, accurate work.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and analytically.
  • Portfolio showcasing previous projects and design skills
