Main Responsibilities:
- The Technician will provide service to the customers for company machines
Accountabilities / Key Performance Areas
- Repairing and maintaining equipment according to company standards with no re-work.
- Accurate troubleshooting (fault-finding)
- Field service vehicle, diagnostic tools and special tools, care and ownership.
- Adhere and comply with company policies.
- Adhere and comply with MHSA (Mine, Health, Safety Act.)
Responsibilities
- Carry out inspection and report on company equipment which shall be submitted to the factory (PIR)
- Carry out service, troubleshooting and repairs as per OEM standards and requirements.
- Carry out an HIRA (Hazard Identification Risk Assessment) before starting with any task on the mine or workshop.
- To complete/oversee the repairs of any defect found.
- Complete complaint, cause and correction on service job card for sign off. The customer or representative of the company on completion of a task must sign Service report and delivery notes.
- Timely complete all relevant administrative requirements, including, but not limited to service job cards and technical data sheets.
- Downloading of machine/Engine software, variables and Data protocol with company diagnos tics (Sculi) and distributing to the correct responsible person.
- Work according to OEM standard repair times.
- Use and understand diagnostic equipment.
- Choose innovative ways to carrying out tasks in a safe manner. Operate electrical and mechanical equipment pertaining to the job, i.e. power tools.
- Ensure integrity of all related tools of trade.
- Work according to occupational health, safety and environment requirements.
- Work according to the Mine health and safety act.
- Supervision of employees where applicable, artisan assistant, apprentice.
- Co-ordination and collaboration of employees working on the same equipment.
- Helping where needed and carrying out any reasonable request.
- Needs to attend training courses, online and in Springs.
- Will work shifts, which do not correspond to normal shift times. Required to work overtime at very short notice.
- Required to be on standby as scheduled.
- On occasions have to sleep out of town away from home for extensive periods.
- Report to site supervisor of all equipment defects and note on service report.
- Provide training to customers about correct usage of equipment and maintenance.
- Provide training to customers maintenance staff on correct service and maintenance practices.

- Field Service Technician (replacement) – MIN Division
- Grade 12/NQF 4
- Candidate must be a trade tested Auto Electrician / Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic
- 4-5 years’ experience post apprenticeship
Years of Experience
- Minimum 4-5 years’ experience on earthmoving equipment.
General Skills:
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English
- Must have experience working with Earthmoving machines that require programming, automation, etc.
- Must have EMT industry experience
- Must have experience in the following : Hydraulic, engines and basic electrics
- Must be able to read schematics
Computer Skills
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have extensive knowledge of all Microsoft
- Office products such as Outlook, Word; Excel and PowerPoint.
Job-related Skills
- Electric, Hydraulic and Mechanical faultfinding skills.
- Welding skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Team work
- Demonstrates a technical aptitude and ability.
- Communication skills to build strong relationship with customers.
- Ability to identify potential hazards.
