Temp Contract - Temp - Underwriter (Commercial) - Johannesburg - South Africa

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess and evaluate complex commercial insurance risks across multiple lines (e.g., property, liability, business interruption, etc.).

• Review and analyse new applications, renewals, and endorsements in line with underwriting guidelines and risk appetite.

• Price risks appropriately and prepare accurate quotations and policy documentation.

• Maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders.

• Ensure compliance with underwriting authority and regulatory requirements.

• Provide mentorship or guidance to junior underwriters and contribute to continuous process improvement.

Key Requirements:

• Minimum of 3–5 years' experience in commercial underwriting.

• Solid understanding of South African insurance legislation and commercial insurance products.

• Proven experience in underwriting large or complex risks.

• Exposure to underwriting software and systems (e.g., Cardinal or similar platforms).

• FAIS-compliant with relevant industry qualifications (e.g., NQF Level 4 or higher in Short-Term Insurance).
