Permanent - Claims Specialist - Johannesburg - South Africa

We are seeking an experienced Claims Specialist with a strong background in short-term insurance claims processing. The ideal candidate will manage end-to-end claims administration, ensuring fair, efficient, and accurate settlement in line with company and regulatory standard's

 Responsibilities:

• Handle the full claims process from registration to finalization for personal and/or commercial lines.

• Investigate and assess the validity of claims, applying appropriate policy terms and conditions.

• Liaise with brokers, assessors, service providers, and clients to facilitate claim resolution.

• Authorise claims within delegated authority limits and escalate where required.

• Ensure adherence to company service level agreements (SLAs) and turnaround times.

• Identify potential fraud and initiate investigations as needed.

• Provide regular status updates and maintain accurate claim records on the system.

• Recommend process improvements and contribute to claims best practices.

Key Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience in short-term insurance claims handling (domestic, commercial, or both).

• Strong knowledge of insurance policy wordings and the claims lifecycle.

• FAIS-compliant with relevant qualification (e.g., NQF Level 4 in Short-Term Insurance).

• Experience working on claims systems (e.g., Cardinal, Tial, or similar platforms).

• Sound knowledge of regulatory and legislative requirements (e.g., POPIA, TCF).
