Job Purpose:

To manage the Drawing Office, including project management and staff management and to maintain an environment that supports the effective execution of customer orders

Key Results Areas:

Administration:

Engineering standards are documented and controlled Participate in events and  exhibitions as required Monitor and determine trends      influencing lead times and output efficiencies Implement and monitor policies, standards and procedures in the office

Compliance:

Adhere to quality and safety standards and integrate into designs Adhere to procedures, design specifications and ISO standards  Investigate and act on incidents

Continuous Improvement:

Identify and address areas for continuous improvement.  Develop a culture of innovation through raising of innovations. Reduce non value added activity in all Drawing office processes.  Implement improvement processes and systems to improve designs and minimise costs

Cost Management:

Manage resource utilisation against budget

 

Customer/Stakeholder Liaison:

Attend and participate in handover meetings as required Site meetings and visits as required.  Establish and maintain relationships with internal/external clients. Consult  with Senior Management and business units as required

Design and Drawing Support:

Proposal and costing drawings have no errors/  Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems. Check and approve drawings. Evaluate customer specifications in order to meet installation requirements. Designs are fit for purpose.  Oversee fabrication end product for design flaws/improvement.  Update drawings to as-built status on completion  of manufactured items to ensure capture of design changes.  Monitor and review drawing processes against deadline targets to ensure on time delivery

Team Supervision:

Plan, select, develop and manage manpower capabilities. Schedule workload and assign to meet expected deadlines. Effect discipline where required in line with company policy.  Develop contingency plans to ensure drawing office efficiency.  Manage succession planning. Provide technical direction as required.

Monitors the corrective action: Monitors safety issues after taking corrective action and ensures continued compliance

Technical/Professional Knowledge and Skills:

Product knowledge: Displays advanced understanding of the company’s products in relation to job output

Engineering and technology: Displays knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology

Minimm Qualification:

Engineering Qualification / Qualified Artisan

Minimum Experience:

8 years draughting experience in a relevant industry of which at least 3 years should have been in a senior capacity 

ESSENTIAL:  Must have AUTOCAD, able to draft both in 2D and 3D (will be tested at interview)

ESSENTIAL:  Must have previous management experience i.e. managed a team
