Job purpose / objectives
To ensure accurate processing and reporting of financial data and to establish and monitor internal controls.
Main duties and responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- Review and sign off creditors and sundry payments
- Review bank, petty cash and credit card recons
- Process journal entries
- Prepare monthly GL recons
- Ensure correct allocation of transactions in the GL
- Ensure month end periods are closed timeously
- Ensure intergroup accounts balance
- Ensure finance liabilities are accurate and interest is accounted for
- Ensure fixed asset register is up to date and depreciation accounted for
- Ensure sub ledgers agree to the general ledger
- Ensure control accounts are monitored and contains no old items
- Ensure all B-BBEE information provided is correct
- Set monthly debtors meetings to resolve queries
- Ensure credit risk is managed
- Establish standard operating procedures and processes
- Ensure VAT is correctly calculated and submitted
- Management of accounts team
Job / educational / qualification requirements:
- Experience with Kerridge (ERP system) is a MUST
- Tertiary qualification in finance
- Proven work experience as a financial accountant or similar role in a regulated environment
- 5+ years in a similar managerial role
- In-depth understanding of business financial procedures and systems
