Reporting to the Production Manager
JOB PURPOSE:
To supervise and lead the performance of the shift and its operating staff.
JOB FUNCTION:
Production Support:
Achieve customer delivery dates (100%) and capture production output on JDE immediately (where applicable).
Maintain machines and production equipment, updating departmental COCs, reporting and recording breakdowns, and undertaking maintenance as required.
Plan daily shop floor operations according to the supplied schedule and update daily production reports in the required format (certain positions only).
Update and maintain the quality file as per standards and supervise final packing as required.
Update departmental drawings as needed, set up and review SLAs when required.
Verify adequate quantities of raw materials and consumables are available for production and set production targets with the Production Manager, prioritising accordingly.
Reduce downtime and minimise delays in the production process by liaising daily with maintenance.
SHEQ Management:
Implement the OSH ACT as per standard requirements and maintain zero lost time injuries.
Maintain housekeeping according to departmental standards and ensure quality standards are upheld for all items produced, with quality checks performed as required.
Order and maintain PPE as required, recording any issues.
Log Near Misses, Incidents, Innovations, and feedback as per departmental standards.
Identify and report potential hazards and unsafe acts.
Complete the team's legal compliance training timeously before any licensing lapses.
Keep SHE files up to date and save all related documents on DM.
Supervised Shift:
Adhere to the company HR and Disciplinary policy and monitor time and attendance according to company policy.
Provide coaching and technical direction based on staff needs, and hold daily meetings with the team, providing feedback to relevant stakeholders.
Record all training in the required format and update relevant procedures and policies.
Keep production scrap to a minimum as per the agreed target and minimise overtime according to the agreed target.
Maintain acceptable raw materials and spares for machinery in inventory and improve production input and outputs.
Provide direction according to staff needs.
