Permanent - Research and Development Engineer - Ekurhuleni (East Rand) - South Africa

Reporting To Technical & Works Manager

Key Performance Area:

Researching new products to develop. 

Performing calculations on the new design.

Conceptualizing and designing new products.

Analysing risks on new designs and coming up with solutions for possible risks. 

Drafting specifications for the manufacturing of new products. 

Fabricating prototypes for testing,

Sampling different manufacturing processes, materials and all factors involved to find the best ones suitable for the new product designed. 

Creating Bill of Materials.

Preferred Minimum Education & Experience:

BTech, Advanced Diploma, BEng Tech degree or an equivalent NQF level 7 degree in Mechanical Engineering.

3-4 years’ experience in a similar role 

2 years minimum working experience in research, design, and development of new products

Must include academic record with your application.

Knowledge Skills and Critical Competencies:

Must have done Engineering Design 3 module. 

Must be highly experienced in Autodesk inventor or any CAD Software 

Good written and verbal communication skills, technical report writing skills, analytical and problem-solving skills. 

Experience in Syspro will be an added advantage. 

Excellent math, creativity, and problem-solving skills 

Good working knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and quality control protocols.
