Position Overview
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of plant machinery and utilities within a food manufacturing environment. This hands-on role includes performing preventive maintenance, responding to breakdowns, and ensuring equipment is maintained in compliance with production, safety, and hygiene standards. The technician will work under the guidance of the Maintenance Lead and play a key role in minimizing downtime and supporting smooth production operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Routine Maintenance & Repairs
- Assist in maintaining and repairing equipment, including conveyors (belt & bucket), air compressors, seasoning machines, packaging machines, puffing machines, mixing machines, multi-head weighers, and forklifts.
- Conduct inspections, identify issues, and report to the Maintenance Lead.
- Perform minor repairs and adjustments independently, escalating complex issues when necessary.
2. Preventive Maintenance
- Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance tasks as assigned.
- Maintain accurate records of completed work and parts usage.
- Lubricate, clean, and adjust machinery components in line with manufacturer specifications.
3. Production Support
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to reduce downtime.
- Communicate effectively with production staff regarding machine issues and repair progress.
- Assist with equipment changeovers and setup as needed.
4. Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to plant safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures and use of PPE.
- Ensure all maintenance work complies with food safety and hygiene regulations (e.g., FSSC 22000, HACCP).
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
5. Tools & Spare Parts Handling
- Operate tools and equipment safely and correctly.
- Monitor and report low stock of critical spare parts to the Maintenance Lead.
