Position Overview
The Maintenance Lead plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability and performance of all plant machinery and equipment. This role involves supervising technicians, coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance, managing emergency repairs, and driving continuous improvement to maximize equipment uptime. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise in mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems commonly used in food manufacturing, along with proven leadership abilities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Lead the repair and maintenance of plant equipment, including conveyors (belt & bucket), air compressors, seasoning machines, packaging machines, puffing machines, mixing machines, multi-head weighers, and forklifts.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and coordinate efficient repairs to minimize production downtime.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement permanent corrective actions for recurring issues.
2. Preventive & Corrective Maintenance
- Oversee and enhance preventive maintenance programs across all shifts.
- Monitor equipment performance data and initiate predictive maintenance when required.
- Maintain accurate logs and documentation of all maintenance activities.
3. Team Leadership & Coordination
- Supervise, mentor, and support maintenance technicians by assigning tasks, providing guidance, and evaluating performance.
- Plan shift rosters to ensure adequate coverage of maintenance activities during production.
- Ensure adherence to safety, food hygiene, and regulatory compliance at all times.
4. Spare Parts & Tools Management
- Manage the availability of spare parts and tools, raising procurement requests as needed.
- Monitor usage and collaborate with the Maintenance Manager to optimize stock levels and control costs.
5. Collaboration with Production & Quality Teams
- Partner with production supervisors to align maintenance priorities with production schedules.
- Work with quality assurance teams to ensure maintenance practices support food safety standards.
6. Reporting & Compliance
- Report on maintenance KPIs (Downtime, MTTR, PM completion rate, etc.) to the Maintenance Manager weekly.
- Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and hygiene practices.
