We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Senior Retail Manager to lead operations at a large-format hypermarket. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing all retail functions, driving sales performance, optimizing customer experience, and ensuring operational excellence across departments. The ideal candidate is a dynamic leader with a proven ability to motivate large teams and deliver exceptional commercial outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the hypermarket, ensuring smooth and efficient business performance across all departments.
- Lead, develop, and motivate a team of over 200 retail employees to achieve sales, service, and operational targets.
- Implement effective sales and marketing strategies to drive revenue, enhance customer engagement, and increase market share.
- Manage stock levels, inventory rotation, merchandising standards, and supplier relationships to ensure optimal product availability.
- Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards at all times.
- Analyze sales data, KPIs, and market trends to identify opportunities for growth and continuous improvement.
- Handle customer queries and complaints with professionalism and a service-oriented approach.
- Collaborate closely with supply chain, finance, and marketing teams to optimize profitability and operational efficiency.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, training sessions, and coaching interventions to strengthen team capability.

Key Requirements
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in retail management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership capacity within a hypermarket or large-format retail environment.
- Strong track record of achieving sales targets and improving store performance.
- Excellent leadership, coaching, and people management skills with experience leading large teams.
- In-depth understanding of retail operations, merchandising, customer experience, and financial performance metrics.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in retail management systems, POS, and data reporting tools.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Matric essential; tertiary qualification in Retail Management, Business Administration, or a related field will be advantageous.
