Purpose: (Brief statement of purpose and main objectives of the position)
- The Supply Chain Shift Supervisor is responsible for managing and overseeing supply chain operations during assigned shifts.
- This role ensures that warehouse, transport, and inventory activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in line with company standards.
- The Shift Supervisor leads a team of employees, coordinates resources, ensures compliance with safety and regulatory requirements, and drives performance to meet operational targets.

Shift Operations Management
- Ensure smooth, efficient, and safe supply chain operations during assigned shifts.
- Oversee inbound, outbound, and internal logistics activities, coordinating staff and resources to meet daily targets. Execute daily activities that allow the business to receive, inspect, pack, store, pick and dispatch a quality product to the end customer within a controlled environment.
Key Activities / Duties / Tasks
- Supervise shift activities including receiving, storage, picking, packing, dispatch, and returns.
- Allocate manpower and equipment to meet workload demands.
- Monitor shift schedules and manage attendance.
- Enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for consistency and compliance.
- Receiving to be verified and Captured on SAP
- Daily checks are carried out to ensure voltage, cleanliness and presentation of products are acceptable
- Perform daily cycle counts
- Support on monthly stocktakes
- Process SAV to seconds for damages or double code batteries
- Identify and escalate slow moving / obsolete stock on the floor
- Manages the labelling process to minimise mistakes
- Ensure all picking is scanned
- Ensure daily dispatch according to delivery schedule and load report.
- Support both local, SDA’s and exports dispatch and collections
- Supervise & assist with the debriefing of all returning vehicles ensuring timeous and accurate offloading of vehicles.
- Ensures daily rotations
- Ensure that scrap to Fry’s is loaded timeously
- Plan daily activities and workloads to ensure efficient workflow.
- Coordinate with other supervisors or managers to manage shifts, schedules, and employee rotations.
- Ensure proper handover between shifts, communicating any important information or issues to the next shift supervisor
- Oversee cycle counts and stock reconciliations.
- Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies.
- Monitor stock handling processes to prevent losses and damages.
- Collaborate with warehouse and procurement teams to maintain optimal stock levels.
- Assist in cycle counting, stocktaking, and maintaining records of inventory movements.
- Address discrepancies in inventory and report them to the warehouse manager
Inventory Control & Accuracy
- Maintain accurate inventory records and minimize variances.
- Ensure real-time stock accuracy through effective stock management practices and adherence to inventory processes.
Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving
- Drive efficiency, cost reduction, and process improvements within shift operations.
- Identify and implement improvements in processes, workflows, and systems
Communication, Admin & Reporting
- Ensure effective information flow across shifts and with management.
- Provide timely, accurate, and relevant updates and reports.
People Management
- Managing CDC staff to perform at optimum levels, ensuring that outputs and KPI’s are achieved, and all behavioural aspects are addressed.
