Qualifications:
Qualified artisan in the fields of mechanical, electrical engineering is essential or both (millwright).
A tertiary qualification in engineering would be beneficial (at least level N5 or T3)
A tertiary qualification in production management or equivalent would be highly advantageous
Experience:
At least 5 years’ experience in a heavy engineering manufacturing environment with related equipment experience
At least 5 years previous experience in supervision / management in a maintenance environment
Management of contractors – ESSENTIAL
Previous experience in working in a unionized environment
Character:
Highly driven individual with well-developed sense of urgency and a passion for meeting targets as presented
Excellent communicator
Planning and organising skills
Able to make quick decisions in a high-pressure environment.
Computer Literacy:
MS Office
Intermediate Computer Proficiency on Microsoft AX
The ability to operate and draw reports/data from the ERP system
Other:
Solid knowledge of the requirements stipulated in the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Solid understanding of labour legislation and staff management principles
Working knowledge of facilities, machines and related equipment
The ability to read, analyse and understand the reports produced from a scheduling system
Knowledge of production methodologies including Lean manufacturing, theory of constraints, etc. would be advantageous
Must be able to read, understand and interpret technical drawings
The ability to read and understand a set of expense accounts
