Permanent - Electrical Field Technician (Junior) - Johannesburg - South Africa

The Electrical Field Technician is a crucial customer-facing role responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance of complex concrete manufacturing equipment.

This position requires extensive travel to customer sites to provide expert technical support, ensure minimal downtime, and act as the technical expert for our clients.

The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with strong electrical and mechanical aptitude.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform on-site installation, commissioning, and calibration of concrete manufacturing machinery and systems.
• Conduct advanced troubleshooting and fault-finding to diagnose and resolve electrical, PLC, and pneumatic issues efficiently.
• Read, interpret, and analyse electrical schematic drawings, pneumatic diagrams, and technical manuals to guide repairs and modifications.
• Execute preventative maintenance services to ensure optimal equipment performance and longevity for our clients.
• Provide exceptional customer service, acting as the primary technical contact on-site, and clearly communicating issues and solutions to clients.
• Complete detailed service reports, documentation of work performed, and parts usage in a timely and accurate manner.
• Collaborate with the engineering and support teams to provide feedback from the field and contribute to continuous product improvement.
• Adhere to all company and customer site safety protocols and procedures at all times.

Requirements / Qualifications:

• Must have Red Seal Section 26D
• Minimum 3 years of experience in Manufacturing Electrical
• Additional skills or requirements PLC knowledge and Pneumatic Experience

Non-smoker

PLC type – Beckhoff and Festo

SCADA Systems – Beckhoff and Wonderware

Must be willing to travel – local & internationally (a few days to several weeks)

Must have good support system for family, during his absence

Requires passport for international travel

Overtime is a given when installing plants, thus long hours at times

Own vehicle – pool vehicle will be provided for most customer visits

Reside in Kempton Park, Edenvale, Germiston, Boksburg, Benoni

Bilingual (Afrikaans & English)

First Aid, Fire fighting and Working-at-height certification will be annually or as required

Must be able to work without supervision, but also needs to work as a team on larger installations
