Permanent - Fleet Controller - Johannesburg - South Africa

A company operating a fleet of tanker vehicles servicing both local and cross-border routes is seeking an experienced Fleet Controller to manage and oversee the full transport and fleet operations function.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating fleet activities, managing drivers, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining operational efficiency across a fleet of tanker vehicles.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate the daily scheduling of tanker loads for both local and cross-border deliveries.
• Oversee the recruitment, management, and performance of drivers.
• Monitor and manage diesel consumption and fuel usage across the fleet.
• Oversee the maintenance and repair of vehicles, working closely with the workshop.
• Ensure all vehicles maintain valid licensing and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate and maintain safe loading passes at refineries.
• Manage cross-border permits and related transport documentation.
• Process and manage driver payments.
• Respond to and coordinate vehicle breakdowns and emergency situations.
• Order vehicle spares and parts and liaise with suppliers.
• Ensure accurate collection and management of PODs (Proof of Delivery).
• Maintain all administrative records related to fleet operations.

Key Requirements

• Proven experience in fleet or transport management, preferably within a tanker transport environment.
• Experience managing local and cross-border transport operations.
• Strong understanding of fleet maintenance, fuel management, and driver supervision.
• Experience handling transport documentation, permits, and compliance requirements.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills and general administrative competence.
• Ability to manage multiple operational responsibilities simultaneously.
• Own reliable vehicle is required.
• Must be available to start immediately.
