The Stores Manager will strategically oversee the operations of all company stores, ensuring compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and objectives. This role requires effective management of inventory, staff, and logistics to guarantee operational efficiency, high service standards, and optimal resource utilization. The ideal candidate will combine strong leadership, organizational, and analytical skills with a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic & Operational Management:

  • Manage store operations in alignment with company policies, procedures, and vision.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce operational policies and procedures.
  • Ensure smooth daily operations, including staff discipline and workflow management.
  • Maintain standards of health, safety, hygiene, and security.

Staff Management & Development:

  • Recruit, select, orient, coach, and motivate store employees.
  • Plan work rosters, assign tasks appropriately, and appraise staff performance.

Inventory & Stock Control:

  • Maintain stock levels, conduct stock-taking, and manage order requisitions.
  • Implement controls for stock issuance to workshops, packing, and deliveries.
  • Monitor all active purchase orders, including local and overseas orders.
  • Manage branch requisitions and perform spot checks on branch consignments.
  • Reconcile stock with the Syspro system and prepare for annual stock-taking.

Logistics & Dispatch:

  • Oversee dispatch operations, including COD collections, customer deliveries, and courier arrangements.
  • Liaise with suppliers, transport companies, and coordinate freight handling.
  • Monitor and manage company vehicles, including logbooks, maintenance, fuel efficiency, and driver oversight.

Quality & Record Management:

  • Receive feedback and monitor service quality.
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping and manage all relevant documentation.
  • Assist in rectifying inventory variances and correct data capturing.
  • Supervise labelling, marking, assembly, and efficient layout of items.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards within stores.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience in store or warehouse management, preferably in a similar industry.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Knowledge of inventory management systems (e.g., Syspro) and stock control procedures.
  • Understanding of logistics, supply chain, and dispatch operations.
  • Strong analytical skills for monitoring purchase orders, inventory costs, and branch performance.
  • Ability to enforce health, safety, and security standards effectively.
  • Excellent communication, reporting, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle physical aspects of store management, including stock handling and assembly.
