The Stores Assistant is responsible for supporting the efficient operation of the company’s stores, including stock management, dispatch, and warehouse duties. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to company policies, and the ability to assist both in the store and workshop as needed. The Stores Assistant ensures stock is accurately recorded, safely stored, and properly dispatched to customers or branches.

Key Responsibilities:

Stock & Inventory Management:

  • Maintain stock levels and perform stock-taking activities.
  • Notify the Stores Manager when order requisitions are required.
  • Picking and issuing items for the Workshop as needed.
  • Assist in rectifying stock variances and ensure accurate data entry into computer systems.
  • Labelling, marking, and organizing items for easy identification.
  • Prepare for and participate in the annual stock take (overtime required; non-remunerated).

Dispatch & Packing:

  • Assist with packing and deliveries, ensuring all goods are securely packaged to prevent damage.
  • Handle bulky items safely, stacking and packing them on pallets.
  • Clearly list and label items per box or pallet, including marking fragile items appropriately.
  • Issue COD collections and goods for delivery to customers or branches.

Receiving & Inspection:

  • Check goods received and goods dispatched, both locally and from overseas.
  • Receive and inspect overseas and local consignments for accuracy and condition.

Workshop & Equipment Support:

  • Assist in the Workshop when necessary.
  • Operate equipment and machines safely, including forklifts and other store machinery.

Housekeeping & Compliance:

  • Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of stores and building.
  • Adhere to company operating policies and procedures.
  • Perform other tasks as required by the company from time to time.

Key Requirements:

  • Previous experience in stores, warehousing, or inventory management is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of stock control, picking, packing, and dispatch procedures.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in checking and recording stock.
  • Ability to safely operate store equipment, including forklifts.
  • Physically fit to handle bulky items and general warehouse duties.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work overtime when required for stock-taking or special projects.
  • Willingness to assist in workshop operations and perform flexible tasks.
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
