This position is responsible for the fitting, installation and assembling various parts made from metal and other materials for the production of machinery, specifically Drill Rigs & LHD’s.
Key Responsibilities
- Assembly & Installation: Fitting machined parts, assembling new machines, and aligning equipment according to blueprints or technical specifications.
- Maintenance & Repair: Performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing malfunctions, and replacing faulty components on machinery.
- Fabrication: Cutting, grinding, and shaping metal components using tools like lathes, drilling machines, and grinders.
- Documentation: Keeping accurate records of repairs, maintenance activities, and machine inspections.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics but not limited to.
- Tools Proficiency: Experience using precision measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, verniers) and power tools.
- Education/Certification: A recognized Trade Test Certificate, Apprenticeship, or Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical Trade).
- Physical Fitness: Ability to stand for long periods and work with heavy machinery.
- Problem-Solving: Strong diagnostic skills for diagnosing mechanical faults.
- Inspect equipment and conduct preventative maintenance
- Perform troubleshooting on site machinery/ equipment and identify and resolve the problems
- Operating power machinery
- Stripping, cleaning and inspecting the machine when necessary
- Assisting other mechanics during maintenance and breakdowns
- General housekeeping & maintenance
Key Performance Areas
- Manufacture/ modify/ install and maintain equipment/ machinery used on site/ workshop and provide technical support to the production area team when necessary.
