Role Overview
The Print Production Manager will be responsible for the full management of print production operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, cost control, and on-time delivery. This role requires strong operational leadership, technical print knowledge, and the ability to manage a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Production Management
- Oversee daily print production operations to ensure targets and deadlines are met
- Manage workflows to improve efficiency and reduce downtime
- Monitor output, quality, and turnaround times
Equipment & Technical Oversight
- Manage and maintain all print production equipment (JHB and CPT)
- Ensure preventative maintenance is in place
- Identify and recommend equipment upgrades where required
Quality Control
- Ensure all printed products meet required quality standards
- Implement and maintain quality control processes
- Monitor colour accuracy and production consistency
Inventory & Materials
- Manage stock levels of consumables (paper, ink, etc.)
- Work with procurement to ensure availability of materials
- Control waste and optimise usage
Process Improvement
- Identify and implement improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the department
Team Leadership
- Manage, train, and develop a team of ±90 staff
- Drive performance, accountability, and productivity
- Oversee workforce planning, including seasonal staff
Operational & Cost Management
- Manage departmental budgets and control costs
- Monitor KPIs such as output, errors, and turnaround times
- Ensure cost-effective production without compromising quality
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies
- Maintain a safe and structured working environment
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with other departments to ensure smooth workflow
- Align production with overall business objectives
