Core Purpose of the Role:
The core purpose of the Finance Administrator role is to provide support to the Chief Reporting Officer (CRO) (and as-and-when required the broader Executive Team, including the Chief Executive) in the day-to-day overall financial management of the company.
The Finance Administrator plays a key supporting role in the finance department and is responsible for running efficient day-to-day financial operations. This includes processing financial transactions, managing invoicing and payments, performing reconciliations, maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with banking profiles, liaising with vendors and suppliers as needed, and ensuring compliance with internal financial processes and policies. The role is critical in supporting the finance team with administrative and operational tasks for the Company, an investment holding entity listed on the JSE, as well as for the entity charged with the administration and management of the Company's portfolio.
Context of the Role:
The Company is a South African investment entity listed on the Main Board of the JSE. Its investment philosophy aims to identify high value, specialised investment opportunities, predominantly in information technology-focused and related sectors. The Finance Administrator role requires a detail-oriented, diligent, resilient, organized, and pro active individual with a strong work ethic and the ability to collaborate effectively in a dynamic environment. Being part of a small, but focused finance team, the Finance Administrator will play a key supporting role in managing day-to-day financial operations. There is definite opportunities for the Finance Administrator to grow alongside the team and contribute to its evolving needs.

Although the primary focus of the role is financial administration, the small size of the team and direct support to the Executive Committee (EXCO) ensures that the Finance Administrator will gain exposure to a broad range of financial disciplines. The Finance Administrator will also play an important role in supporting the standardization of internal control processes across all current and future investment entities (PICs). This will involve providing key support in driving and managing the process to ensure consistency and accuracy across the entire portfolio.
Key Performance Areas:
The key tasks of the job include:
Financial control and financial management
Execute the relevant tasks and duties associated with the effective operation of the finance function for the Company, and any subsidiaries that form part of the investment holding company function. This includes management of the functions associated with:
o Accounts payable.
o Accounts receivable.
o Cash and petty cash management, including supplier payments.
o Banking administration.
o Monthly Financial Reporting
o Ad-hoc Financial Analysis
Perform weekly and monthly reconciliations and financial analyses as required; and
Monitor procurement of products and services as well as all key creditor accounts on an ongoing basis to ensure that commercial terms are adhered to, relevant, and up to date.
Other strategic areas of support:
Support the implementation of portfolio-wide financial policies, processes, and procedures (PPPs); and
Financial support, research, and input in relation to portfolio-wide initiatives, and any other areas as may be required by EXCO.
