- Ensure compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA), client site rules, Codes of Practice, and company SHEQ standards, and maintain your legal appointment as MHSA 2.17.1 Safety Officer
- Conduct safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments across workshops, warehouses, vehicles, mobile equipment, and drill rigs
- Conduct safety inductions and facilitate safety training and awareness programmes
- Capture and analyse PTOs, VFLs, and HPHs using leading and lagging indicators
- Identify hazards, implement risk controls, and maintain safety files and risk assessments
- Develop and test emergency response plans and conduct drills
- Assist with incident investigations and compile safety reports
- Attend daily management meetings, engage employees to promote safe behaviour, and stop unsafe work, recommending corrective action where required

- A National Diploma in Safety Management, NEBOSH International Diploma, or equivalent recognised safety qualification
- A minimum of 3 - 5 years past experience in a similar role
- A strong technical background and sound understanding of mining operations
- Proven experience in the mining industry (open-cast and/or contractor environment preferable)
- Solid working knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA)
- A Trade Test (Mechanical, Electrical, Diesel, etc.) — advantageous
