Reporting to the Group Sustainability Officer

Purpose of Position:

Position requires a recent Science or Engineering Graduate (Honours of Masters in Sustainability related field) to fill the position of a Sustainability Data Officer to collect, track and record sustainability data predominantly focused on carbon data.

Key responsibilities:

  • Collecting Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 Data including but not limited to searching for and through online resources for emission factors relevant to the business’s operations.
  • Tracking carbon data and the reporting of that data across the subsidiaries of the Group of Companies. Ensuring timeous data collection and following up with subsidiaries where data may be missing or out of range.
  • Sustainability data analysis
  • Assisting the Group Sustainability Officer with their duties.

Key deliverables:

  • Accurate timely data reporting

Key outputs (examples):

  • Annual GHG inventory (Scopes 1–3),
  • Quarterly activity data pack,
  • Emission factor register,
  • Audit-ready evidence pack,
  • Train/guide site data owners,
  • Issue data templates,
  • Run data collection calendar,
  • Escalate late/missing submissions

Required qualifications:

The ideal qualification will be a science or engineering graduate with an honours or masters degree in a sustainability related field: e.g. Environmental Science, Meteorology, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering or an undergraduate degree with some experience in carbon accounting.

Must be able to work with Microsoft products including Outlook, Word and Excel.

Experience required:

  • Experience with data management, carbon accounting essential
  • Knowledge of Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3.
  • Knowledge of the GHG Protocol
  • Knowledge of Sustainability reporting standards (CSRD) is valuable but not essential
  • Certification in carbon accounting would be valuable but is not essential
