 Role Overview

The Floor Manager is responsible for the day-to-day execution and performance of the retail floor, ensuring that merchandising, customer service, stock availability, and overall store presentation meet the highest standards. This is a hands-on role focused on turning stock into sales through disciplined execution, strong team supervision, and attention to detail. Procurement is managed separately, but the Floor Manager ensures stock is properly displayed and sold. The successful candidate must work closely with the Store Manager to ensure seamless execution of retail operations, achievement of sales objectives, and the maintenance of high operational standards throughout the store.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Floor Operations Management – Oversee daily activities, maintain cleanliness, organisation and safety, and ensure store readiness at all times.
  2. Merchandising & Stock Presentation – Ensure shelves are fully stocked and correctly priced, implement merchandising standards, and adjust displays based on product movement.
  3. Stock, Inventory Control & Availability – Ensure timely replenishment, monitor out-of-stock items, conduct stock checks, maintain accurate inventory records, implement inventory control procedures, and minimise losses.
  4. Damages, Shortages & Aged Stock Management – Manage damaged stock, stock shortages, and discrepancies with relevant personnel. Identify aged and slow-moving stock and recommend promotions, markdowns, bundles, or other initiatives to maximise returns and minimise losses.
  5. Sales Team Management – Supervise, coach and develop staff, provide training, set targets, drive accountability, and manage employees fairly, consistently, and astutely while dealing professionally with all personality types without bias.
  6. Customer Service Excellence – Ensure prompt engagement, handle escalations, and support key customers.
  7. Sales Performance Execution – Drive sales, promotions, upselling, and cross-selling initiatives.
  8. Store Discipline & Standards – Enforce discipline, presentation standards, and conduct daily floor walks.
  9. Health, Safety & Compliance – Ensure safe handling of products and maintain safe, clear walkways.
  10. Retail Systems Management – Utilise retail systems to monitor stock movement, inventory levels, damages, shortages and aged stock; ensure accurate reporting and provide management with meaningful insights to improve stock turnover and operational performance

Shelf availability, inventory accuracy, sales productivity, staff performance, customer satisfaction, store standards, stock loss, and aged stock management.

Qualifications & Experience:

Retail floor management experience preferred. Experience managing teams, merchandising, and inventory control systems is advantageous.
Skills & Competencies:

Leadership, attention to detail, merchandising knowledge, communication, resilience, inventory control expertise, fair people management, problem-solving ability, and strong collaboration with senior management.
