Position Summary
- The Collision Prevention & Communication Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, integration, and support of collision prevention, tracking, and leaky feeder communication systems tailored to customer operational and safety requirements.
- This role works closely with Regional Sales Teams, Product Development, Operations, Project Management, and customers to ensure successful deployment and performance of integrated safety and communication solutions.
Responsibilities / Duties
- Design and configure collision prevention systems, proximity detection systems (PDS), personnel tracking systems, and leaky feeder communication networks using company and third-party technologies.
- Develop integrated solutions for underground mining, tunnelling, industrial sites, and other critical infrastructure environments.
- Conduct system design, coverage analysis, and communication network planning for leaky feeder and wireless communication systems. Perform site assessments, system audits, feasibility studies, and field inspections to determine customer requirements and system performance expectations.
- Prepare and present technical proposals, system architectures, and solution recommendations in support of the Sales Team.
- Develop detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs), system layouts, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Support installation, commissioning, integration, and configuration of collision prevention and communication systems.
- Execute Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and system validation activities to ensure compliance with operational and safety specifications.
- Perform system troubleshooting, diagnostics, optimization, and performance verification in both surface and underground environments.
- Conduct RF coverage testing, signal analysis, and system performance evaluations.
- Collaborate with Project Managers and field teams during deployment, commissioning, and maintenance activities. Provide initial technical training and ongoing support to customers, site personnel, and service teams.
- Respond to technical inquiries and provide engineering support to internal departments, contractors, vendors, and clients.
- Maintain working knowledge of analog and digital two-way radio systems, wireless communication technologies, collision avoidance systems and mining safety regulations.
- Support continuous product and system improvement initiatives through collaboration with Product Development and Manufacturing Engineering teams.
- Ensure compliance with relevant mining safety standards, operational procedures, and customer specific requirements.

Education / Work Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience in a relevant technical discipline).
- Experience working with RF communication systems, leaky feeder networks, collision prevention systems, or mining communication technologies.
- Experience in underground mining environments or industrial communication systems is advantageous.
