Department: Extruder and Production
Job Purpose:
The Technical & Extrusion Supervisor is responsible for supervising daily production activities, providing technical support, and ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective manufacture of products that meet customer specifications and company quality standards. The role oversees production personnel, setting up wadding and punching machines, coordinates production planning, and drives continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.
Comprehensive training will be provided on the Company's extrusion processes, wadding and punching equipment, products, and manufacturing systems.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Production Supervision:
Supervise daily production operations to achieve production targets and delivery schedules
Setting up of wadding and punching machines. Ensuring that they run efficiently when in operation and attending to breakdowns
Plan and allocate work to production personnel
Monitor productivity, efficiency, and machine utilization
Ensure production activities comply with established operating procedures
Identify production bottlenecks and implement corrective actions
Coordinate production changeovers to minimise downtime
Work closely with Maintenance to maximise equipment availability
Monitor production performance and report key manufacturing metrics
Technical Support:
Provide technical guidance to production staff and internal departments
Prepare and maintain technical documentation and CAD drawings where required
Assist with new product development and process improvements
Support product trials, testing, and validation activities
Investigate technical issues and implement corrective actions
Quality Assurance:
Ensure products meet customer specifications and company quality standards
Monitor production quality throughout the manufacturing process
Investigate non-conformances and implement corrective actions
Maintain quality records and documentation
Promote continuous improvement in product quality and manufacturing processes
Health, Safety and Compliance:
Promote and enforce a safe working environment
Ensure compliance with company policies and statutory regulations
Conduct regular workplace inspections
Maintain high housekeeping standards throughout the production area
Participate in risk assessments and safety improvement initiatives
Leadership and People Management:
Supervise and develop production personnel
Train and mentor employees on company procedures and work instructions
Conduct performance reviews and provide regular coaching
Manage attendance, leave, and disciplinary matters in accordance with company policy
Foster teamwork, accountability, and a culture of continuous improvement
