Permanent - Logistics Supervisor - Ekurhuleni (East Rand) - South Africa

Task Description:

• Planning Management skills Performance Management skills Time Management
• Ensure vehicles are available when needed.
• Maintain and manage logistics department daily planning Ensure correct notices and signs as required for dangerous goods are available and displayed on trucks.
• Liaise with production and distribution managers to determine transportation needs and priorities.
• Liaise with sales personnel if delivery commitments cannot be fulfilled.
• Ensure spot check for vehicle cleanliness and correct PPE worn at all times.
• Ensure drivers submit daily vehicle checklist.
• Escalate any breakdowns to Logistics Manager as and when it happens.
• Liaise with the workshop regarding vehicle breakdowns when required.
• Perform other tasks within reason as assigned by the logistics manager.
• Train drivers on the requirements of the driver manual. Review contents of the driver manual as and when required.

Minimum Educational Requirements:

• Grade 12 or equivalent Transport or Logistics qualification

Desired Qualification:

• Tertiary Qualification in Logistics Management & Supply Chain Management

Minimum Work Experience Required

• At least 5-years’ experience in transportation and or distribution environment that includes vehicle maintenance.
• At least 5 years' experience in a supervisory position in charge of the control of drivers.

Skills/Abilities and Competencies

• Good communication skills in English (verbal & written).
• Computer literate and knowledge of MS Outlook, MS Excel & MS Word
• Knowledge of OH&S Act Valid Drivers' License
• Knowledge of legal requirements for transportation of dangerous goods
