REPORTING TO THE OPERATIONS EXECUTIVE

JOB PURPOSE:

To provide leadership and to manage project capabilities that enable the department to execute multi-disciplinary system projects, which meet project goals.

The role includes business development related to the company's product range and project capability.

JOB FUNCTION:

Compliance:

Adhere to company policies and procedures.

Comply with National Safety Legislation and customer specific Safety Procedures.

Obtain customer approval for project specific safety procedures, risk assessments, prior to implementation.

Meet customer and internal quality requirements as per contractual arrangements.

Maintain the ISO QMS as per company policy.

Contract Management:

Ensure the project office adheres to all contractual obligations (or exclude during tendering)

Reflect company requirements in commercial terms contained in proposals

Adhere to customer reporting as per contractual requirements.

Establish and maintain an effective cost management system to track cost progress and achieved project profits

Ensure quotes/tenders from sub-suppliers are sourced and supplier selection is done to comply with contractual obligations

People Management:

Develop and maintain policies, standards and procedures for the work performed in the department.

Oversee Project Managers for the delivery of projects/programs on time, within the scope and on budget.

Process and Engineering Design:

SME’s (including external consultants) are facilitated to enhance the design capability in a cost-efficient manner.

Approve conceptual designs as required. Approve process and engineering design and sign-off as required.

Project Business Development:

Identify project opportunities in conjunction with stakeholders.

Compile project budgets for all proposals.

Complete surveying/site measurement/scanning is done to enable conceptual designs and costings to be done for proposals.

Approve proposal drawings for costing.

Generate project schedules to reflect proposal lead times.

Approve proposal costings for tenders/quotes.

Evaluate and assess technical and commercial risks related to proposals.

Project Execution and Delivery:

Develop and implement project execution strategy and project delivery. Define project office scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals.

Project Governance:

Establish a project governance framework.

Prioritise and align projects for maximum efficiency.

Project Monitoring and Reporting:

Manage issues, risks and dependencies; articulate mitigations, resolution plans and drive the path forward.

Resource Management:

Select, allocate and manage relevant resources for all activities in the project office and for own specific projects.

QUALIFICATION & REQUIREMENTS:

A minimum of Advanced Diploma (BTech equivalent or higher) in Mechanical, Industrial, Minerals Processing or Chemical Engineering and a Project Management qualification.

Mechanical Engineering, Pr Eng, with qualification will be a distinct advantage

10 years Project Management experience in EPC/EPCM or Multi-disciplinary engineering projects environment including 5 years experience of managing a department.

Can build a successful team, collaborative, applies continuous improvement, customer focused, follows-up, problem solver, good planning, organising, communication skills, initiates safety awareness and quality orientated

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel and Outlook) and Competent on MS Projects

Applies proven project management methodologies to deliver projects on schedule, within scope and budget.

Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of the mining environment in the context of ore processing, specifically relating to equipment used and solutions for processing improvement; Thorough understanding of project management phases, techniques and tools.
