- Perform precision TIG/MIG welding on aluminium components according to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Prepare, clean and position aluminium parts prior to welding.
- Carry out fine and detailed aluminium welding where a high-quality finish and accuracy are required.
- Set up and operate welding equipment, including TIG/MIG machines, regulators and gas systems.
- Select appropriate welding parameters, techniques, filler materials and shielding gases for different aluminium applications.
- Inspect welds for defects such as cracks, porosity, undercutting and incomplete penetration.
- Grind, polish and finish welded areas to achieve the required smooth cosmetic finish.
- Measure components and verify dimensions using appropriate measuring instruments.
- Follow welding procedures, work instructions and production specifications.
- Maintain consistent weld quality and production standards while meeting required output targets.
- Identify and rectify welding defects and rework components where necessary.
- Operate hand tools and workshop equipment safely.
- Maintain welding equipment and report faults or maintenance requirements.
- Follow health and safety procedures, including PPE, safe gas handling and workshop safety requirements.
- Keep the work area clean, organised and free from hazards.
- Work closely with fabricators, fitters and production staff to complete aluminium assemblies.
- Minimise material wastage and ensure efficient use of aluminium and welding consumables.
- Complete quality-control checks and production documentation where required.

- Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent.
- Welding qualification or trade certificate is advantageous.
- Proven experience in fine/precision aluminium welding.
- Strong TIG welding experience; MIG welding experience would be advantageous.
- Experience working with aluminium fabrication and assemblies.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and welding specifications.
- Good understanding of welding techniques, parameters and filler materials for aluminium.
- Ability to produce neat, high-quality cosmetic welds with minimal distortion.
- Experience with weld preparation, cleaning, grinding and finishing.
- Good knowledge of welding defects and quality-control procedures.
- Ability to use measuring equipment such as verniers, micrometers and gauges.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to precision.
- Ability to work to tight tolerances and production deadlines.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Knowledge of workshop health and safety procedures and PPE.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Physically fit and able to work in a manufacturing/workshop environment.
- Reliable, punctual and quality-focused.
