Duties
  • I assessed potential suppliers based on their quality, reliability, and sustainability practices and established strong relationships with key suppliers. I also gained a deep understanding of the supply chain for solar components, identifying potential vulnerabilities and bottlenecks.
  • I managed procurement processes encompassing supplier selection, contract implementation, and agreement negotiation. These processes were crucial for sourcing EPC Contracts, O&M Contracts, OEMs, BOP Contractors, transformer supply, and high-value equipment for renewable energy storage. My role involved driving efficient and sustainable procurement practices, managing supplier relationships, negotiating strategic contracts, mitigating risks, and optimizing costs to ensure the success of solar and battery storage projects.

  • Contracted out to assist ‘’Anglo American’’ (Supply Chain).
  • Draft and negotiate Terms and Conditions of contracts, including other main commercial aspects in conjunction with the tendering and adjudication process, whilst establishing new and existing Supply and Service agreements, and NEC agreements over four business units, mostly pertaining to commodities like mining explosives, CAPEX refurbishments and earth moving equipment.
  • I was subcontracted out to support the Supply Chain department of 'Anglo-American.' My responsibilities included drafting and negotiating the terms and conditions of contracts and other commercial aspects during the tendering and adjudication process. I also established new and existing supply and service agreements, primarily related to commodities such as mining explosives, CAPEX refurbishments, and earth-moving equipment. Additionally, I monitored weekly unit price increases for fuel and explosives across all business units.

 

 


Lesotho Dimaond Mining | DRC Mining Projects : Contract Administrator (Supply Chain) | Procurement Co-ordinator From 2019-10 To 2023-04
Duties

Minopex (Pty) Ltd - 3 Months Contract

  • Negotiate, draft, compile Forward Price Agreements (FPA) contracts based on the agreed commercial terms and conditions for Scope of Works required for each site project.
  • The initiative is to drive savings in line with cost reduction optimization plan for overall business objectives - support all projects through strategically negotiate agreements and execute solid Service Level Agreements (SLA) and FPA’s; for values between ZAR 500k and up to ZAR 13 million.
  • Problem solving and decision making - to improve the total cost of ownership, cash and quality of the delivered goods and services through monitoring supplier performances and value-added services long term.
  • Drive initiatives to save and avoid expenses through a cost reduction plan and overall business goal. This can be achieved by negotiating unit prices and fixed/lump sum contracts to reduce and maintain costs. The projections for total cost avoidance and reduced-price savings achieved are as follows: (1) Year 2020 = $2.1 million, (2) Year 2021 = $1.9 million, (3) In Quarter 1 of Year 2022, a savings of $2 million has already been achieved.
  • Performance KPI: From February 2020 to December 2021, the contract coverage KPI increased from 48% to 71%. In Q1 2022, it reached 72.8%, marking a milestone. Subsequently, I transitioned to DRA Projects' contracts division.
  • I managed 56 active contracts for supply and services rendered at Letseng Diamond Mine in Lesotho and other projects, fulfilling all contractual procurement obligations.
  • Mentored and guided junior buyers and site procurement managers on contractual obligations through bi-weekly meetings with cross-functional team members.
  • As part of my role, I am responsible for negotiating, drafting, and compiling various types of contracts, such as forward price agreements (FPA), unit prices, and lump-sum and rebate contracts. These agreements are for the supply of goods and/or services required for different projects and will be based on the agreed commercial terms and conditions for each scope of work. The primary objective is to achieve significant cost savings. To accomplish this, I will strategically negotiate agreements, maintain consistent and high-quality service levels, sustainably source goods from multiple suppliers, and manage supplier performances.
  • The main objective was to improve the quality of goods and services, reduce overall cost of ownership, and minimize operational downtime. This was achieved by monitoring supplier performance, providing value-added services for the long term, and working closely with supplier managers and site engineers. The focus was primarily on top suppliers with group contracts for critical and strategic machinery and spare parts. The approach included negotiating SLAs and rebate agreements and managing site visits for maintenance and reporting analysis.
  • As a Senior Contract Administrator in Lesotho's project, my primary role is to encourage and motivate my team members to enhance their skills and achieve personal development goals. I am responsible for managing any supply or delivery challenges that may arise while ensuring continuous improvement in our operational workflows. To accomplish this, I proactively collaborate with suppliers, site engineers, and procurement managers and explore opportunities to re-engineer or automate processes, particularly in the face of global supply chain challenges.

  • Issue various Request for Proposals (RFQ’s) based on the outcome of the sales tender evaluations, which included research to identify and develop knowledge of key suppliers, and their commodities within local and international markets, with a general competitive understanding on price perception, quality, time to market, delivery methods and stock availability on mining chemicals.
  • It was top priority to developed strong working relationships with management to manage the strategy of the business categories assigned to, to implement a global procurement strategy by developing sound relationships, that included a portfolio of suppliers, and internal customers and stakeholders – to support various mining projects throughout the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
