Manufacturing : Plant Engineering and Facilities Manager From January 2006 To August 2007
Duties
In Ford worked as Plant Engineering & Facilities Manager. Responsibilities were handling Engineering issues, new equipment ordering, major machines modification, standardization of spares, supporting for the major breakdowns & analysis. In supporting with this Repeatability & Maintainability study for the plant machines.
In Facilities department the role was to maintain & upgrade the facilities like compressors, dryers, Transformers, material handling equipments & all external service contracts.
In FMCSA joined as a Maintenance Manager on 1st Jan 2006. Responsibilities were planning & organizing plant PM, breakdowns, FTPM activities, cost saving projects, and all the functions related to Plant Maintenance.

In Spicer worked on propeller Shaft project for two years. The responsibilities were to set the new propeller shaft project in South Africa. This project handled independently from building stage till the full production run. Dealing with all the related fields from Plant layout, Tooling, Process design & development, quality related issues, plant maintenance activities, Material handling, Safety etc.
Propeller shaft plant moved from India to South Africa. This consists of various types of hydraulic Presses, Special purpose machines, Balancing machine and Fully automatic paint line. I was responsible for this project. In addition to it conducted various training programs to top management, middle management and operators.
In September 04 visited Canada for two weeks. This visit is basically for the new improvements to bring in the South Africa plant.
Maintenace Manager
December 1994 to December 2003
In Spicer worked on 3 big projects. Two of those projects handled independently. In those projects worked since building construction till the final product output. Some of the key roles are Machine ordering and testing, tooling development, process design and development, dealing with all the Government agencies for getting various approvals, plant layout, plant Electrification, HT and LT Electrical Installations, Compressors lines designing and all related activities for the new plant.
Paint line Erection, Maintenance & Process development: Worked on Paint line erection & development. The Five tank painting process is developed for the Painting of the Propeller shafts. Implemented cost reduction project for the consumption of Paint & chemicals. The paint line was initially manually operated, by modification made it to fully automatic process. Only the manual operation was loading & unloading of components. For loading & unloading purpose developed a zero balancing system. This improved the efficiency of plant & reduced the operator?s fatigue. For energy cost reduction gas fired heating system developed for heating chemicals in the paint line.
Engineering & Maintenance Manager: Worked with Spicer for 6 years as Manager Maintenance. In this period the uptime of the plant maintained to 99.5%. Initiated Total Productive Maintenance concept in this plant (TPM). Under this position following are the key responsibilities are handled.
Planning of plant maintenance activities like daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, half yearly and yearly preventive and predictive maintenance activities.
Dealing with the Government organization for the compliance of the relevant applicable regulations.
Arrangements of yearly Electrical inspections, Pressure vessels testing, Hoist and lifting equipment testing.
Spares procurement and management with considering the lowest inventory levels.
Measurement of performance and implementing new strategies.
Development of procedures in line with the ISO / TS 16949 standard.
Implementation of mistake proofing projects.
Plant lay out and Material handling systems.
Running cost reduction projects in various areas.
Process design and development.
Implemented various energy saving projects and waste elimination.
Measurement of Cost of Maintenance and maintained to lowest levels.
Worked on BaaN ERP system development.
Capital planning & budgeting for the department.
New equipment ordering.
Implementation of ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001.
Development quality systems in line with the ISO / TS 16949.
Production / Manufacturing In charge: In Spicer India Limited worked as Production Incharge for 3 years from Dec 94 to Mar 97. In this period the production capacity improved to 150%. Some of the roles are as follows:
Production Planning, Productivity Measurement, Process improvement, Cycle time reductions, Setting time reductions, New process design and development, Implementation of procedures in line with ISO / TS 16949, Manpower reduction programs, Running Cost reduction projects, Plant capacity enhancement.
In addition to these functions handled position of Management representative for Quality systems, Environmental Management systems (ISO 14001) , and Occupational Health & Safety Management ( ISO 18001).
