Position Summary

  • Reporting directly to the Head of Finance & Operations, the Finance Manager will be responsible for managing the Finance department and all its functions.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the day-to-day running of the financial functions of company including accounts payable, inventory (including costing of local and imported products), Cashbook and bank, as well as elements of accounts receivable and administration.
  • Manage monthly closing process, including reconciliations and analysis of accounts computation, and review of monthly journal entries. (General ledger and sub-ledger)
  • Maintenance and reconciliation of fixed asset registers.
  • Management of the monthly management accounts reporting and review process by IFRS standards.
  • Maintain high-quality financial disciplines and controls throughout the company and ensure that measures to mitigate risk are effectively implemented.
  • Influence policy and controls creation and implementation including internal controls, risk management, and compliance.
  • Research and resolve accounting issues including evaluation and implementation of new accounting policies to ensure compliance.
  • Oversee the preparation of financial and management reports and ensure the financial results of the business are complete, accurate, and timeously recorded by applicable accounting standards, relevant legislation, and Company guidelines.
  • Preparation of financial reporting packs, which provide meaningful insight into performance and initiatives required for Management committee meetings.
  • Coordinate and prepare the companies for annual audit including preparation of the Annual Financial Statements.
  • Management and Preparation of the company’s annual budget process and quarterly forecasts.
  • Continuous tracking and monitoring of expenses by budgeted and forecasted figures.
  • Ensuring Supplier payments and other expenses are made by company policies and controls.
  • Effective cash forecasting and cash flow management.
  • Effective review and reporting of working capital and its requirements.
  • Effective management and review of forex forecasting and requirements.
  • Management of the regulatory and tax compliance processes, including preparation and review of entity calculations and tax returns and management of e-filling profile.
  • Calculation, review, and submission of VAT 201 returns, review of employees’ tax returns, and statutory tax returns.
  • Management of staff within the department, including leave planning and performance management which includes mentorship and coaching to build operational capacity.
  • Review monthly BBBEE reporting and implement BBEE Initiatives.
  • Manage BBBEE verification audit

Education Requirements

  • Essential: Relevant tertiary qualification and CA (SA)
  • Desirable: Relevant Business – related qualification

 

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years post articles experience in a financial management role managing a medium-sized finance team.
  • Preferential Experience within the FMCG industry or an operational trading entity.
  • Demonstrated and proven track record of implementing and improving accounting systems, processes, management information, and financial reporting.
  • Knowledge and experience in financial modeling, near-term forecasting, and longer-term budget preparation and analysis.
  • Knowledge and experience in all areas of financial planning, analysis, and overall financial management.
  • Desirable experience with Syspro

 

Experience Requirements

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, especially MS Excel.
  • Results-driven and able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.

  • Stakeholder collaboration, both internal and external.
  • Project management skills
