Permanent - HVAC Technician - Johannesburg - South Africa

We are seeking a skilled and reliable HVAC Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. This role requires strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service while ensuring systems operate efficiently and in compliance with safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Installation: Install HVAC systems, including ductwork, thermostats, compressors, condensers, and control systems according to specifications and safety standards.
• Maintenance: Perform routine preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment to improve system performance and extend service life.
• Repairs: Diagnose and repair faults or malfunctions in HVAC systems and components.
• Troubleshooting: Use diagnostic tools and technical knowledge to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
• Customer Service: Communicate effectively with clients regarding system issues, repair timelines, and maintenance tips.
• Compliance: Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and manufacturer guidelines.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of service, repairs, and equipment status.
• Teamwork: Collaborate with other technicians, contractors, and project managers on installations and service projects.
• Emergency Support: Provide on-call or after-hours service when required.

Key Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 2–3 years’ proven experience as an HVAC Technician or in a similar role.
• Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical components, refrigeration cycles, and mechanical controls.
• Education/Certification:
• Relevant technical qualification (HVAC diploma, trade test, or equivalent).
• Valid HVAC certification (e.g., refrigeration handling, gas handling license) is highly advantageous.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly identify and resolve issues in complex systems.
• Physical Ability: Capable of lifting heavy equipment, working in confined spaces, and performing physical tasks.
• Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills for client interaction and reporting.
• Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license and reliable transport.
• Other: Strong attention to detail, time management, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
